When Cancer Returns: Moving forward with the right treatment

Why do some cancers recur? And with the development in science, is cancer relapse more treatable now? Join us for this webinar and hear from our panel of experts to gain useful knowledge on the various treatments for cancer relapses.

What should you do if your blood cancer relapses? Is it treatable? Join us as Dr Colin Phipps Diong, Senior Consultant Haematology from Parkway Cancer Centre speaks on blood cancers and development of more targeted treatments that have increased responses and reduced tumour resistance. In 2020, relapsed blood cancers are more treatable than it has ever been. Learn about new therapy options that are changing the “cancer relapse’ narrative.

Dr Ang Peng Tiam, Medical Director and Senior Consultant from Parkway Cancer Centre will also discuss how the primary aim of treating non-metastatic cancer is to achieve cure. Despite the advances in cancer management, and the best efforts of the patient and doctors, cancers do sometimes recur. The recurrence can occur weeks, months, years or even decades after initial treatment. The main reason cancers recur is failure of the initial treatment to eradicate ALL the cancer cells. Nevertheless, there is much that can be offered after the cancer recurs.

Open Dialogue with the Experts: Understanding Childhood Cancer

Childhood cancer is uncommon but it can happen. It is usually masked by non-specific symptoms or symptoms from common illnesses or everyday injuries or bruises which can lead to delay in diagnosis. It is thus important for carers and primary care physicians to be vigilant and be quick to detect warning signs.

Picking up the disease early helps improve overall cure rates as treatment can begin earlier, which in turn, may mean less intense treatment and overall distress for the child.

Join us in our Open Dialogue on Childhood Cancer webinar, where our experts will cover a range of topics from detecting non-specific signs and symptoms to the available treatments of childhood cancer.

Our experts will also be addressing the questions YOU post! If you would like us to address your questions on childhood cancer during the webinar, please indicate your interest during registration.*

Upper Body Post Surgery Exercise to Reduce Lymphoedema

Lymphoedema is a condition that can potentially hurt the quality of life of a breast cancer survivor. It used to be a common problem but with newer surgical techniques and earlier detection it has fortunately become less and less common.

Nevertheless, although it has become less common, it is still a dreaded condition that many patients fear.

Sometimes the lymphoedema is temporary and rarely is it permanent. Prevention is better than cure, early management can reduce the long term effects.

Measures that can reduce lymphoedema includes diet and lifestyle changes. There are actually exercises that can help in reducing the incidence of lymphoedema. Even when it has set in, exercise can improve it and therefore quality of life.

Join us in this webinar as Dr See Hui Ti, Senior Consultant, shares about the history of lymphoedema, it’s onset, prevention, and treatment.

Included in the webinar is also a video on management of lymphoedema and some exercises pre diagnosis, surgery and post-surgery for one and all to strengthen upper limb and to improve mild lymphoedema.
