Profile
Yang Juan is a Palliative Care Nurse at Parkway Cancer Centre. She works closely with the Palliative Physician and the Oncologists to support cancer patients who are experiencing difficult pain and other symptoms, as well as those at the end-of-life, both in the hospitals and at their own homes. She also provides bereavement support for family who lost their beloved ones.
Yang Juan graduated from Singapore Nanyang Polytechnic with a Diploma in Health Science (Nursing) in 2007 and obtained a Bachelor in Health Science (Nursing) from Curtin University Australia. Yang Juan has also further obtained the Specialist Diploma in Palliative Care from Ngee Ann Polytechnic in 2018.
Yang Juan started her nursing career in Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), medical-surgical ward. During her last 7 years of service in TTSH as a Staff Nurse to a Senior Staff Nurse, she has experienced the caring of the multi-disciplinary patients, including oncology and palliative patients. She was astounded by the palliative team who provided holistic and supportive care. Yang Juan upgraded her knowledge on Palliative Care by attending the hospital training for pain management and end-of-life care.
Yang Juan volunteers in Tzuchi free clinic and does medical home visit for the needy. By seeing the suffering, it strengthened her faith to be a comforting and supportive presence to people, making a difference to their lives.
Yang Juan has achieved 2012 Singapore Healthcare Humanity Award. She hopes to bring her passion and knowledge gained from her past experiences to serve as a Palliative Care Nurse in Parkway Cancer Centre.
