Profile

Yvette is a counsellor at Parkway Cancer Centre. She offers holistic psychosocial and emotional support to cancer patients and their families. She practises evidence-based approaches such as Systemic Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy to provide support to cancer patients according to their specific needs.

Yvette graduated from Loughborough University with a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Communication (Honours) in 2011. She later developed an interest in pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling with TCA College in 2022. Yvette continues to actively pursue training in Grief Counselling with Portland Institute.

Prior to joining Parkway Cancer Centre, Yvette dedicated 8 years as a Centre Supervisor in a school-based student care setting, working directly with children and families to foster a supportive and nurturing environment. She also had the opportunity to gain experience in counselling children during her internship with the Ministry of Education. In 2023, Yvette continued practising counselling at a Family Service Centre, where she supports individuals and families from diverse demographics and cultural backgrounds, integrating a variety of modalities into her approach. Her diverse work experiences over the years have equipped her with a broad perspective and the ability to understand and support cancer patients from multiple angles.

Yvette facilitates support groups for cancer patients and their caregivers. She also conducts training sessions and delivers talks on topics related to psychosocial and emotional support in cancer care, and contributes to publications focused on the care of cancer patients and their loved ones.
