MEDISHIELD LIFE
MediShield Life is an individual catastrophic medical insurance designed to help Singaporeans and Permanent Residents pay part of the large hospitalisation bills for treatment as well as certain outpatient treatment expenses such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The monthly or annual premiums are paid from one’s Medisave account.
With effect from 1 November 2016, non-subsidised bills for outpatient chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment will be pro-rated by 50% before the computation of MediShield Life payout for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents.
The pro-ration factor is derived based on the difference between the basic level of subsidy that a subsidised patient (50% subsidy) and a non-subsidised patient (0% subsidy) will be eligible to receive for his/her outpatient treatments.

Patients will still be able to claim up to the prevailing maximum claim limits for outpatient chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment for the pro-rated bill.
