CanHOPE
Counselling
As part of our holistic approach towards cancer treatment, we provide counselling and resource information through CanHOPE. Information on screening tests; treatments and preventive care are freely available through CanHOPE counsellors and hotline.
Your calls are confidential and face-to-face counselling service is available at CanHOPE offices at Gleneagles and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals.
The psychosocial needs of patients, their families, and loved ones are an important support element to help them "live their best".
The clinical supervision and professional counselling aims to help patients make informed choices while adapting to the new ways of coping with cancer.
Support Group
Support groups organise programs that bring together individuals led by either a professional or peer leader. Regardless of their structure most of the support group programs share the same goals of promoting participant self-awareness, providing accurate and timely information, assisting in the discovery of problem solving strategies and fostering mutual support among group members.
Parkway Cancer Centre's support programs are specific in grouping together patients who understand the same language ie either Arabic or Vietnamese. This is with the intention of creating opportunities for connection and communication between the physician, patients and caregivers with the assistance of translators. It is through interactions with others that people come to know themselves better.
