Serving you together

It was more than a festive celebration at Min Jiang Restaurant in Goodwood Park Hotel on 12 February, when doctors and staff of Parkway Cancer Centre (PCC) got together for Chinese New Year. As they gave the traditional raw fish salad (yu sheng) a hearty toss and raised their glasses to PCC, it marked yet another year of helping patients in their battle against cancer. PCC was started 10 years ago, in 2006, as Singapore’s first private cancer centre. In the last decade, the joint venture with Parkway has expanded greatly. It now boasts clinics in several hospitals all over the island, including Gleneagles, Mount Elizabeth and Mount Elizabeth Novena. Apart from the medical expertise of top oncologists, latest technological infrastructure and treatments, it also takes satisfaction in operational efficiency. Often, doctors at the centre are able to diagnose the cancer, establish the extent of the spread of the disease and draw up a treatment plan within 24 to 48 hours. PCC also has a cancer counselling and support service, CanHOPE. The non-profit service has regional offices in Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, China, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, with staff who can often speak to patients in their own language. This full range of multi-disciplinary and personalised care is the result of the strong bonds within the PCC family, with doctors, nurses, counsellors and support staff working and walking with patients on their journey of healing.
