Padel Fundraiser Unites Community to Support Cancer Care

Community-led padel tournament raises funds for Singapore Cancer Society.
What happens when a sport becomes more than just a game? For Singapore’s growing padel community, it became a way to give back. Padel for Cancer, a grassroots fundraising event for Singapore Cancer Society (SCS), brought 36 teams, sponsors, and supporters together in a show of generosity, unity, and shared purpose in the 2025 edition.
Building on the success of its inaugural run in November 2024, the event has grown into a beacon of community-driven fundraising. This year, it raised an impressive $48,000. All proceeds went toward SCS’s programmes supporting cancer patients and their families, particularly those from low-income backgrounds.
The event was made possible by a groundswell of support from the padel community and beyond. Businesses stepped forward to sponsor prizes and equipment. Parkway Cancer Centre supported the event as well, through sponsoring the event t-shirts and the tote bags featuring “The Tree of Hope”, a collaborative art piece created in 2024 during its charity art jamming session.
Volunteers donated their time and energy to ensure the day ran smoothly. A vibrant sense of camaraderie was evident throughout the tournament, reinforcing the idea that sport can be a powerful platform for good.
As teams competed in the friendly matches, spectators visited the SCS booth showcasing handmade crocheted items created by cancer survivors—reminders of the resilience and strength behind the cause. These keepsakes quietly underscored the day’s deeper message: that every act of giving, no matter how small, can spark hope.
Padel for Cancer is more than a tournament. Rather, it is a celebration of what is possible when people come together with kindness and purpose with a message of hope: that no one should face cancer alone and together we can make a difference.
