Profile

Chia Hui Erl is a Senior Counsellor at Parkway Cancer Centre. She provides psychosocial and emotional counselling for cancer patients as they cope with their diagnosis, treatment process and care plans. She adopts evidenced-based interventions such as Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy; and integrates these techniques in her work with patients.

Hui Erl graduated with a Master of Social Science in Professional Counselling from the Swinburne University of Technology, Australia, in 2015. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honours) from SIM University of Singapore (now known as Singapore University of Social Science). Hui Erl has also been awarded Certification in Grief Therapy As Meaning Reconstruction by the Portland Institute for Loss and Transition in 2021. This is part of her ongoing effort to strengthen her competencies in the area of loss, grief and bereavement.

Hui Erl started counselling in 2014. She was first a volunteer at Singapore Buddhist Free Clinic and subsequently worked in a Family Service Centre where she had gained good exposure and experience working with clients from different demographics and cultural background. Prior to that, she had 20 years of working experience as a buyer and had exposure to research work with Ministry of Education.

Hui Erl is a Clinical Member with Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC).

Hui Erl conduct talks and trainings on topics such as self-care, stress management and the support of cancer patients and their family members. She writes occasionally for healthcare and other publications on issues relating to the care of cancer patients and their families.
